AVACA is the
professional association which promotes
excellence in
volunteer resources management by providing
opportunities for professional
growth and development, networking and
collaboration, and training and
education. AVACA also serves as a resource
and advocate for the profession

Membership
Benefits
Membership in AVACA is open to
all current and former managers, paid or
volunteer, of volunteer programs. Annual
membership dues are $25 for July 1 through
June 30. Memberships are individual, not
organizational.

Recognition of
Outstanding Volunteer Management
AVACA presents the
Lucia Causey Award for Excellence in
Volunteer Management to a member who is a
paid volunteer coordinator. This award
honors the administrator of a volunteer
program who reflects the high ideals of the
profession and whose dedicated efforts allow
volunteers to produce significant
achievements. The award is named for Lucia
Causey, former and long-time Executive
Director of the Volunteer Center of Maricopa
County, past president of Valley of the Sun
DOVIA (now AVACA), and founder of the
Corporate Volunteer Council. Lucia Causey
also advised, trained and mentored many
individuals working in the field of
volunteer management. The award is presented
annually at the Volunteer Recognition
Luncheon held in April.
This annual award
consists of a plaque presented to the
recipient, a $250 cash award for the agency
the recipient serves, and the inscription of
the recipient's name and agency on a
cumulative plaque displayed at the Volunteer
Center.
