Recognition of Outstanding Volunteer Management

AVACA presents the Lucia Causey Award for Excellence in Volunteer Management to a member who is a paid volunteer coordinator. This award honors the administrator of a volunteer program who reflects the high ideals of the profession and whose dedicated efforts allow volunteers to produce significant achievements. The award is named for Lucia Causey, former and long-time Executive Director of the Volunteer Center of Maricopa County, past president of Valley of the Sun DOVIA (now AVACA), and founder of the Corporate Volunteer Council. Lucia Causey also advised, trained and mentored many individuals working in the field of volunteer management. The award is presented annually at the Volunteer Recognition Luncheon held in April.

This annual award consists of a plaque presented to the recipient, a $250 cash award for the agency the recipient serves, and the inscription of the recipient's name and agency on a cumulative plaque displayed at the Volunteer Center.
